Fillers
Fillers
Uses* Dermal fillers are an alternative to BOTOX to treat folds and creases on the face caused by age and gravity.
Dermal Fillers (often marketing under the trade names Zyderm and Zyplast) are popular alternatives to BOTOX used to treat folds and creases on the face caused by loss of volume and hollowing in the skin due to the aging process, effects of gravity and repetitive facial muscle activity. They are also used to augment the size and shape of the lips. Facial implants can be used in reconstructions for areas that may have been scarred or altered by trauma. This may be done in conjunction with minor or major plastic surgery. Dermal fillers can be used to correct frown lines, smoker's lines, worry lines, crow's feet, smile lines, cheek depressions, lip enhancements, or acne or facial scars.
Application
Dermal fillers can be injected into areas with fine lines and wrinkles, usually around the eyes, brow, bridge of the nose, mouth, jaw line and cheeks. Scarring from injury to the face or acne can also be corrected with dermal fillers. There are many different types of dermal fillers which include human collagen, hyaluronic acid, donor tissue fat and even one’s own fat. Dermal fillers are a minimally invasive procedure with little or no recovery time, which costs less then surgery and has minimal risks.
Side Effects
Complications from dermal fillers may include allergic reactions, bleeding and bruising, non-allergic inflammatory reactions, numbness, infections, and movement or extrusion of implant.
