How Does Latisse Make Lashes Grow?

Latisse impacts the anagen phase of eyelash growth by adding length to the existing hairs and increasing the growth of hair. The exact scientific mechanism of Latisse isn't known, but it is highly effective for lash growth.

How is Latisse Applied?

Latisse is applied once per day. The solution is placed on the base of the top eyelashes. It should not be applied within the eye or to the lower eyelid, because that can result in excess hair growth in the wrong areas.

How Long Does it Take to See Results From Latisse?

Most people who start to use Latisse begin to see results at around the 8-week mark with consistent daily usage. The full results are evident at around 12 to 16 weeks.

Does Latisse Replace False Lashes, Lash Extensions, or Mascara?

Latisse is an excellent remedy for lack of lashes, so it can be a long-term replacement for false lashes and lash extensions. It doesn't replace mascara, as mascara is simply a cosmetic that can be used to enhance the effects of Latisse if desired.

What Are the Potential Side Effects of Latisse?

Latisse doesn't cause side effects in most people. In around 4 percent of patients, a mild itching sensation may occur. Eye redness occurs in about the same percentage of patients. Other uncommon side effects may include darkening of the skin, eye dryness, or irritated eyelids. Although rare, it is possible that Latisse could cause additional brown pigmentation in the irises.
