Dermal Fillers
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are an aesthetic injectable designed to add volume to different areas of the face that need lifted, plumped or smoothed. Fillers instantly diminish grooves, deep lines and wrinkles, creating a more youthful appearance. As we age we loose a teaspoon of volume in our face every year after the age of 20. One vial equals a teaspoon of product. Depending on which areas of the face that you desire treatment, your injector will discuss the types of fillers that are appropriate for that area.
What Areas Are Dermal Fillers Used In?
Dermal fillers are used in several different areas of the face. One of the most popular areas for this dermal filler is the lips. Juvederm Volbella can restore lost volume in the lips, as lips may grown thinner with age. It can also fill in tiny smile lines surrounding the mouth. Juvederm Voluma XC is used for areas like the nasolabial folds, the lines that run from the edge of the nose to the corner of the mouth. It is also used in the cheeks to plump the cheek and treat that hollow-cheeked look that may develop as a person ages. Other dermal fillers are available to reverse the signs of aging. Are Dermal Fillers the Same As Botox?
No. Botox and dermal fillers are both injectables, but Botox is usually injected around the forehead and eye area to stop muscle movement that forms wrinkles. Dermal fillers are used to plump, smooth, and restore the area. A patient is able to combine both Botox and dermal fillers for the most youthful appearance.
How Soon Will Results Be Seen?
Dermal filler results are instant. The injections take just a few minutes and the volume increase will be seen as soon as the injections are complete. There may be some mild swelling after the injections, but this will usually abate within a day or two. Most fillers last 1 to 2 years depending on the type of filler and location of injection.
