DERMAL FILLERS

People often ask: What is filler? Allow me to explain!

When we are babies, our skin is so plump with a lot of hyaluronic acid (HA) in our skin. As we age, the amount of HA in our skin is reduced. We also tend to have alterations to our bone, collagen and fat as well. This process makes our faces sag, and we start to see jowls form, frowns appear, and deep groves under our eyes and mid-face develop. Basically, our faces fall downward and our lips disappear, causing us to look old and tired. Well, there is no need to panic because fillers can come to the rescue. Small amounts of filler deposited in the areas that lack volume will recreate our structure, turn our frowns upside down, and make us look refreshed!

One syringe is about a teaspoon of product. You can usually expect to need one syringe per decade after age 20 for optimal volume correction. The best approach to subtle correction is to not chase your problem areas but rather to revolumize the upper face first. Later, smaller amounts of filler are usually added to the lower face in order to create balance. If you desire an immediate improvement in your appearance to look younger and lifted, filler may be the answer!

A consultation is needed to evaluate your areas of concern and to make sure you are a candidate, as well as make explain what type of fillers will give you a natural lifted look. There are numerous types and consistencies of filler and your injector will know best which ones will work best for you. It’s important to plan to have filler injected at least two to three weeks prior to a big event. Bruising and swelling are common after injections but will heal with time.

Filler is my favorite service to provide because it takes an artist to see the areas that need volume and provide correction of the volume in a way where you look great, without looking overdone, which is a common fear for many. My approach is to be subtle yet leave you looking rejuvenated, just a younger version of you!

So, if you’re interested in filler and want to learn which type of filler would be best suited for you, schedule a complimentary skin consult with our team to begin your path to younger looking skin!
